Public Works Permit Counter
The Public Works Permit Counter offers the convenience of a one-stop shop for answers to many common questions, as well as securing over-the-counter Public Works Permits.
All Public Works Permit Counter application services are available Online via The City’s Accela Citizen Access website at landuse.santabarbaraca.gov.

The Permit Counter is located in the Community Development/Public Works Building at 630 Garden Street, Santa Barbara, California. The Public Counter is open for walk-in services Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. – no appointment needed. You may telephone staff at (805) 564-5388 from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (PST), Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. City offices are closed every other Friday.
Please visit SantaBarbaraCA.gov/countercheckin to schedule an in-person or virtual appointment with City staff. We do not currently accept applications via our general e-mail, PWCounter@SantaBarbaraCA.gov. You may email this general email box with questions on completing your application or to request documents necessary to complete your application.
