Bike Share Pilot Program

Body

The City of Santa Barbara, along with our program operator BCycle, launched a Bike Share Pilot Program in January 2021. The program provides a citywide fleet of electric-assist bikes (e-bikes) available for rent in the public right of way. Designed with short trips in mind, bike sharing is great for those trips that are too far to walk, but too close to drive. Community bike sharing helps reduce traffic congestion and parking demand, and supports our City’s sustainability efforts.

You will need a mobile smartphone device and the free BCycle app to unlock a BCycle bike. Monthly, annual, or single-ride passes can be purchased at SantaBarbara.BCycle.com

BCycle e-bikes can be checked out from and returned to over 560 docks throughout the City, reach a maximum pedal-assist speed of 17-mph, and have front and rear lights. Remember to always ride safely and wear your helmet.
