December 2025 Storm

Plan for Upcoming Storm. Flooding is expected in low-lying areas and hazardous road conditions are expected throughout the county.

Those living in areas prone to flooding should stay aware of changing conditions and be prepared to take protective actions, such as moving to high ground.  If you feel unsafe during the rainfall, shelter in place in your home by gathering your family and pets in the inner most room of your house, preferably on the top floor if you live in a multi-story home.

If you are concerned that this storm may cause unsafe conditions to your home, leave the area before the rain starts. Do not wait for an official evacuation notification to leave.

Stay away from rivers, creeks, and trails.

Never attempt to drive through flooded areas, as it's impossible to gauge the depth of the water or the condition of the road beneath.

Beaches, bluffs, and the Harbor area may be impacted.

Drive Slow and Use Headlights: Reduced visibility and slippery roads are expected during heavy rainfall. Please drive cautiously, maintaining a safe speed, and always remember to turn on your headlights. This not only helps you see better but also makes your vehicle more visible to others on the road. 

Avoid Flooded Streets: Never attempt to drive through flooded areas, as it's impossible to gauge the depth of the water or the condition of the road beneath. Turn around and find an alternate route to reach your destination safely. 

Be Cautious Where You Walk: Heavy rain can cause hazards such as loose manhole covers or debris on sidewalks. Exercise caution while walking, and be mindful of your surroundings to prevent accidents or injuries. 

Respect Road Closure Signs: If you encounter road closure signs or barricades, do not attempt to drive around them. These signs are in place for your safety and indicate hazardous conditions ahead. Find an alternative route and avoid risking your safety and that of emergency responders. 

Watch for Traffic Signal Outages: In the event of power outages or technical issues, traffic signals may not be functioning. Treat intersections with non-functioning signals as four-way stops. Proceed with caution, yielding to other vehicles, and adhere to the right-of-way rules.
