Contractor Cleaning Sewer Mains in San Roque and Westside Starting July 20

The City of Santa Barbara has contracted Empire Pipe Cleaning and Equipment to perform sewer main cleaning on City streets and on properties with sewer easements starting Monday, July 20, 2026, through the end of August in the San Roque and Westside areas. Work will be completed Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

Cleaning the sewer mains removes debris and root growth, ensuring wastewater flows freely to the El Estero Water Resource Center to be treated. This contract provides additional staffing and equipment to support City staff who usually perform these cleaning tasks. If necessary, Empire Pipe Cleaning and Equipment staff may need to briefly access properties to access sewer manholes to clean sewer mains. If entry into private property is required, the contractor will notify the homeowner regarding the work to be completed. Residents may notice temporary parking restrictions, traffic control signs, equipment noise, and brief delays while crews are working. Westside Area – San Andreas Street area over to Miramonte Drive and surrounding streets.

San Roque Area – North Ontare Road to San Jose Lane & McKenzie Park and surrounding streets.
