Pride Month Proclamation 2025
The City of Santa Barbara proudly celebrates its diverse and vibrant LGBTQ+ community, honoring the resilience, creativity, and contributions of its members. In recognition of Pride Month, the City reaffirms its commitment to fostering equality, inclusivity, and acceptance for all residents and visitors.
Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) is excited to announce a new partnership with local nonprofit Pacific Pride Foundation (PPF). This partnership will support mutual community engagement through promoting Pride Month, PPF’s annual Pacific Pride Festival, and SBA’s efforts to provide an inclusive, safe, and welcoming environment for all passengers.
Passengers traveling through SBA will see a new Pride Month banner hanging from the tower outside the front entrance during the month of June. In addition, multiple PPF advertisements and activations will be present inside the terminal through the end of August.

On June 10, Mayor Rowse presented a formal proclamation to the Pacific Pride Foundation during the City Council meeting.
As part of this year’s Pride Month celebrations, Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) represented the City at the Meet Me in Old Town Block Party on Thursday, June 5, 2025. SBA staff greeted attendees with “Fly with Pride, Land with Love” stickers and shared information about the Airport’s commitment to inclusive travel and community engagement.
The Pacific Pride Festival, sponsored by the City of Santa Barbara and SBA, will take place on August 23 at Chase Palm Park. This celebration is free for the community and will feature live music, dance and musical performances, food, vendors, and more. Events like these highlight the City's ongoing efforts to stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and to promote safe, welcoming spaces across all departments.

"PROCLAMATION
L6BTQ, + PRUDE MONJTH
JUNE 2025
WHEREAS, 2025 marks the 56th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots-six days of intense protests in June 1969 following a police raid on the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village that specifically targeted lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ+) patrons-an event that galvanized the worldwide LGBTQ+ rights movement; and
WHEREAS, despite significant progress, many within the LGBTQ+ community continue to face discrimination, marginalization, and inequity simply for being themselves and for loving openly and authentically; and
WHEREAS, the LGBTQ+ community-alongside dedicated advocates, allies, and organizations such as Pacific Pride Foundation, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2025-remains steadfast in the pursuit of inclusivity, equality, and dignity for all people, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Barbara has a proud history of allyship with the LGBTQ+ community, including the election of its first openly gay Councilmember, Tom Robets, and the passage of a landmark domestic partnership law-the first of its kind on the Central Coast--prior to the achievement of marriage equality in California; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, RANDY ROWSE, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of Santa Barbara, do hereby proclaim June 2025 as PRIDE MONTH in Santa Barbara. I encourage all residents to take part in local Pride events and to stand as advocates and allies, united in rejecting prejudice and honoring the rich diversity of our community.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Official Seal of the City of Santa Barbara, California, to be affixed this 10th day of June, 2025.
Mayor Randy Rowse"
