Heatwave Forecast and Fire Risks this Week

The National Weather Service is forecasting a heatwave throughout Santa Barbara County that is expected to last through Friday, August 28. A Heat Advisory is in effect for areas including Goleta now through 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 25, followed by an Extreme Heat Watch from Tuesday morning, August 25 through Friday evening, August 28 for areas including Goleta.

With the heat, there is a potential for heat illness especially for populations that are sensitive to heat. Please remember to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities, check the back seat fork ids and pets, and plan for the extreme heat ahead. Click here for more tips to stay cool.

Southern California Edison (SCE) has notified customers that it is considering a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) in parts of Santa Barbara County due to an increased risk for wildfires. SCE is communicating directly with those potentially impacted.
