Subtitle
City to Explore Water Affordability Challenges
Authored on

The City of Santa Barbara invites the community to participate in a Water Affordability Community Workshop focused on water affordability, conservation, and access. Join us to learn more in a space encouraging open dialogue and get involved in the effort to address water affordability challenges in your community!

The Water Affordability Community Workshop will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at the Westside Neighborhood Center, 423 W. Victoria Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101. Live Spanish interpretation and refreshments will be provided.

In our ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of life in our community, we recognize that water is a vital resource. Water is essential for our health, hygiene, sanitation, and overall well-being. Water affordability, conservation, and equitable access were identified as important community values in the Water Vision Santa Barbara effort conducted in 2020. Affordability is a growing concern as water and wastewater rates rise to account for increasing costs due to aging infrastructure, extreme weather events, climate change, regulations, inflation, and more.

The City has partnered with Alliance for Water Efficiency (AWE) to further explore the topic of water affordability.

The City wants to better understand the challenges and opportunities related to water affordability. We're looking forward to hearing directly from the community to inform the study and the City's future efforts.

By participating in this workshop, you are contributing to a meaningful conversation about this important issue and are helping to shape policies and initiatives that can ensure equitable access to affordable water for all. This is a must attend for anyone interested in or concerned about water affordability in our community.
