Downtown Parking Lot Permits

This exclusive permit costs $100 and is valid for six months of weekend parking. Locals can use the permit to park in any of the City of Santa Barbara’s Downtown Parking lots every Saturday and Sunday without paying parking fees.

Proof of residency is required when applying for permit.  Please review Terms and Conditions of permit use prior to submitting application.

Permits may be used for daily lot access for those in need of parking while working in the downtown core. Access to parking is provided by an RFID permit card. Permits are assigned to an individual and are non-transferable.

The 24/7 Parking Permit program was created to optimize the use of parking resources by offering “home garage” permits for downtown residents and businesses in Downtown Parking garages. The permit authorizes the user to park their vehicle for up to two weeks at a time in either the basement of the Granada Garage (Lot 6), or the roof of the Ortega Lot (Lot 10).

The City offers discounted permits which allow the user to park at one of the ChargePoint vehicle chargers which are located on the roof of Lot 6, The Granada Garage. For more information on EV Parking Permits, please view the Electric Vehicle Parking Permits page.

Commuter Lot permits are available in the Carrillo Commuter Lot. Permits are available to employees who commute into the downtown core. Access is granted to the Commuter Parking Lots by use of a hangtag on the vehicle’s rearview mirror. Permits are assigned to an individual and are non-transferable.

PLEASE NOTE:  Permits for the Cota Commuter Lot are no longer offered.  The Cota Commuter Lot is the future site of the new police station.  Existing permit holders as of May 31 will be transitioned into the Legacy Permit Holder Program.  

To purchase a permit, please apply through our online application portal for your chosen lot below. Please be prepared to attach a JPEG or PDF image of your valid California Vehicle Registration. Once approved, staff will contact you to complete the application process.  

Monthly, 24/7, and EV Permit fees are not pro-rated.  To initiate permit, we require payment for the first month to start.  Commuter permits are billed one month in advance and can be pro-rated after the 15th of the month. To initiate permit, we require payment for the first and second month.

• Only complete applications (with CA vehicle registration included) will be accepted onto the waitlist.  
• When a space opens, it will be offered to the first person on the wait list.  We will contact the applicant via the email address on their application and give them three business days to respond and pay the first month fee.  Applicants will receive only one notification of their selection – no reminders or follow-ups will be sent.  If the applicant does not respond within three business days, we will move to the next person on the list. 
• An applicant will be offered a permit a maximum of two times before being removed from the wait list.
• Applicants will be contacted every three-years on the wait list to determine continued interest.

Permits are not offered in these lots due to the smaller size and high average occupancy rates.
