Adopted Budget for Fiscal Year 2025 for the City of Santa Barbara

Authored on

On June 11, 2024, the City of Santa Barbara adopted its operating and capital budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2025, as required by the City Charter. The FY2025 budget is comprised of all City funds, including the General Fund, special revenue funds, and enterprise funds. Each fund accounts for distinct and uniquely funded operations. The FY2025 Adopted Budget of approximately $577 Million will fund community services and implement many capital improvement projects.

"While the City continues to face rising inflationary costs, increased pension debt, and many other significant economic challenges, this year’s budget underscores our commitment to fiscal responsibility as we attempt to maintain core services to the community within our anticipated revenues. Through creative strategies and invaluable feedback from our community, we have developed a plan that maintains the level of services the community expects. However, we continue to face financial challenges in the future and we remain dedicated to ongoing dialogue with residents to navigate these challenges." said Kelly McAdoo, City Administrator.

The adopted budget for FY2025 will be accessible on the online budget tool at SantaBarbaraCA.gov/budget

The budget tool, which brings greater transparency to the City's finances, will be updated within the next few weeks to reflect the final actions taken by the City Council today.
