Santa Barbara Public Library and The Arts Fund Teen Arts Mentorship Program Offers Free Intro to Music Production Class for Summer

Authored on

Santa Barbara Public Library invites teens ages 13 and up who are interested in digital music composition and mixing beats to a summer workshop series in partnership with The Arts Fund and their Teen Arts Mentorship Program at the Eastside Library on Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 11 to August 10, from 12:30-3 p.m. Teens should register online to participate.

In small groups, teens will produce a portfolio of their musical compositions. Teens will work on specific music-making skills and explore musical styles as well as potential career opportunities for artists in our community. Talitha Gabrielle, a local musician, producer, and sound engineer, will teach the fundamentals of music production, how to use Garageband editing software, how to create musical compositions and beats, basic mixing tips, and how to sell and market musical compositions. Students will receive an MP3 of the pieces they produce and have the opportunity to showcase their work at the Teen Arts Mentorship Gallery Show in November.

“Santa Barbara Public Library is thrilled to partner with The Arts Fund to provide this immersive, innovative experience for local youth,” said Library Director Jessica Cadiente.

The Teen Arts Mentorships this summer have been supported by the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation. The Bowl’s annual grant cycles provide significant resources to enhance performing arts experiences and education for youth in Santa Barbara County.
