Utility Billing Public Counter Now Closed on Fridays

Starting Friday, May 15, 2026, the Utility Billing public counter will be permanently closed every Friday. This update will help us streamline our operations and keep our public counter hours consistent, so there is no more guessing about which Fridays we are open.

Though the counter will not be open on Fridays, our team is still working and available to you. Utility Billing customer service representatives can be reached by phone Monday through Thursday, and on alternating Fridays, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call us at (805) 564-5343 or send us an email at UtilityBilling@SantaBarbaraCA.gov.

There are much easier and more convenient ways to pay your utility bill than visiting the office. With our 24/7 payment options, you can take care of your bill whenever it works best for you. If you need any assistance, just let us know—we’re always happy to help!

Easy Ways to Pay Your Utility Bill

  • Phone: Pay with a bank account, debit card, or credit card 24/7 by calling (855) 844-0038. There is no processing fee when making payment with a bank account.
  • Online: Make a one-time payment with a bank account, debit card, or credit card at SantaBarbara.CA.gov/WaterSmart. There is no processing fee when making payment with a bank account.
  • Autopay: Set it and forget it with automatic monthly payments at SantaBarbara.CA.gov/WaterSmart.
  • SMS Text: After signing up at SantaBarbara.CA.gov/WaterSmart, go to Billing and select “Pay by Text” under Bill Settings.
  • Mail: Prefer sending a check? Mail it with your payment stub to:
