City of Santa Barbara Celebrates Community Development Week Highlighting the Impact of CDBG and HOME Investments | April 6–10
The City of Santa Barbara will join communities nationwide in celebrating National Community Development Week from April 6–10, recognizing the vital role of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) programs in strengthening local neighborhoods, expanding access to housing, and supporting essential community services.
For more than four decades, CDBG and HOME have been cornerstones of the City’s efforts to create a more equitable, resilient, and vibrant Santa Barbara. These federal programs provide critical funding that allows the City and its nonprofit partners to deliver housing, infrastructure improvements, public services, and community facilities that benefit low- and moderate-income residents.
Community Development Week offers an opportunity to acknowledge the powerful impact these federal programs have right here in Santa Barbara. CDBG and HOME funding help us build stronger neighborhoods, expand affordable housing opportunities, and provide essential resources to residents who need them most.
"Local community organizations do incredible work to uplift our city. I see it every year as our committee awards funding to these organizations to address housing, child care, food security, and other community needs. Community Development Week is an opportunity to celebrate the hard work of incredibly skilled people that make positive change in Santa Barbara every day!" – Lyiam Galo, CDHSC Board Chair
