Water leaks always seem to happen at the worst possible time—and the busy holiday season is no exception. Whether you're hosting festive gatherings, shopping for loved ones, or traveling out of town, a surprise leak can quickly turn into a costly mess.

Stay one step ahead with Leak Alerts through WaterSmart. This smart tool notifies you the moment a leak is detected — so you can take action fast, no matter where you are.

When you sign up for Leak Alerts, you can:

  • Get notifications via email, text, or an automated phone call

  • Address leaks quickly to minimize potential water damage

  • Reduce water waste and protect our community’s water resources

This service is part of the City’s Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) initiative, which upgraded water meter technology to provide real-time insights into your water use. With hourly meter readings and daily updates, the City can now respond to customer concerns more quickly and accurately. This enhanced insight improves customer service and helps prevent small problems from becoming big ones.

WaterSmart gives you 24/7 access to online tools that make it easier than ever to manage your water consumption and pay your utility bills. You can set custom email and text alerts for early notification for:

  • Continuous water use

  • Unusually high usage

  • Potential leaks

  • High bills or unplanned water use

These early notifications help you take action before your bill arrives, giving you more control and helping to prevent surprises. The data provided through AMI also promotes greater awareness of your water habits and supports long-term water efficiency.

Signing up for leak alerts is quick and easy — all you need is your City utility account number and ZIP code. With WaterSmart, you’ll have peace of mind during the holidays and throughout the year.
