Anthony Valdez
Anthony Valdez was appointed as the City of Santa Barbara’s Deputy City Administrator in September 2025. In this newly created role, he leads a consolidated team within the City Administrator’s Office focused on some of the City’s most critical priorities: housing, homelessness services, and the economic vitality of the downtown corridor.
Anthony oversees a broad portfolio that includes Housing & Human Services, Affordable Housing, Community Grants, Rental Housing Mediation, Homelessness Services, Community Vitality Initiatives, the State Street Master Plan, Downtown Services, and citywide parking operations. His leadership is central to advancing strategic planning, interdepartmental collaboration, and community-centered solutions.
Born and raised in the City and County of San Francisco, Anthony earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and a certificate in advanced leadership studies from the American University in Washington, D.C., a master’s in public administration from the University of San Francisco and is a Public Policy and International Affairs Fellow from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
