Building Permit Dashboard

The Overall Permitting tab displays information for all permits processed by Building & Safety, ranging from commercial projects to residential projects. Here, you can view the total demand for Building & Safety’s services (number of applications received) and division output (number of permits issued). This tab shows applications, issued permits, and processing times for these projects.

In 2024, the division received 2,583 standard permit applications and issued 2,196 standard permits, a 7% increase in permit requests from the previous year. The dashboard’s pie chart shows information for the most recent 90-day period to track recent trends. 

Small Projects:

• Residential Examples: < 1,000 sq. ft., single-story additions;
  non-structural remodels; pools
• Commercial Examples: Minor tenant improvements, grading,
  or other site improvements

Medium Projects:

• Residential Examples: < 1,000 sq. ft. two-story additions;
  structural remodels; addition to duplex;
  > 1,000 sq. ft. non-structural additions;
  < 1,000 sq. ft. structural additions
• Commercial Examples: Interior only, non-structural, or minor
  structural (no new sq.ft.); minor
  exterior tenant improvements

Large Projects:

• Residential Examples: > 1,000 sq. ft. structural additions; new
  single-family residence or duplexes; Accessory Dwelling Units
• Commercial Examples: Interior Tenant Improvement (TI) with minor structural (no new sq. ft.); 
  minor exterior TIs < 1000 sq. ft. additions; 
  structural tenant improvements; 
  New single occupancy buildings < 10,000 sq. ft.
