Upcoming City Council Hearing: Accessory Dwelling Unit Ordinance Amendments

The City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, to review a proposed framework for amending the Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) ordinance. The goal is to streamline and clarify city regulations, ensuring alignment with State law while supporting local housing production objectives. The key objectives of the proposed amendments include: 

• Simplifying the ordinance 

• Reducing unnecessary design review triggers 

• Assisting applicants by providing clearer standards 

• Maintaining only those local regulations that advance community values, such as privacy, reuse of existing structures, and protections for high fire hazard areas, in compliance with State law
