Single Family Design Board Survey

The City of Santa Barbara’s Planning Division, in collaboration with AIA Santa Barbara, is seeking input on the Single Family Design Board (SFDB) design review process. This initiative is part of the City's effort to streamline and simplify the land development permitting for single family homeowners.

The purpose of this survey is to hear from applicants and homeowners about their SFDB design review experience, and considerations for how to improve the process. This survey is both for "frequent flyer" SFDB customers as well as infrequent or one-time permit seekers who have participated in the SFDB review process within the last three years (between January 2020 and January 2023). All responses are confidential.

The deadline to submit survey answers is end of day Wednesday, February 22nd.


Staff will analyze survey results and make recommendations to Council's Land Development Team Oversight Subcommittee. Recommendations could include both code amendments and suggestions for process changes.
