The City of Santa Barbara’s Vic Trace Reservoir Replacement Project team presented proposed tree removals and replacements to the City’s Street Tree Advisory Committee on December 4, 2025. Based on Committee and public feedback, the Project team will not be presenting at the Parks and Recreation Commission on December 17, 2025.

The Project team is actively incorporating Committee and public feedback received on December 4, 2025, and plans to present an updated proposed tree removal and replacement plan at the Street Tree Advisory Committee the week of January 5, 2026 (meeting not yet scheduled). Soon thereafter, the Project team will present at the Parks and Recreation Commission on January 28, 2026.

The public is invited to attend the following meetings and/or provide public comments to the Street Tree Advisory Committee and/or Parks and Recreation Commission:

  • Street Tree Advisory Committee
Date and time to be determined by the Committee
Tentatively the week of January 5, 2026 at the Parks Office at 402 East Ortega Street

  • Parks and Recreation Commission

Meeting agendas and information will be posted at SantaBarbaraCA.gov/Street-Tree-Advisory-Committee and SantaBarbaraCA.gov/Parks-Recreation-Commission before the meetings.

The purpose of the presentations is to receive tree removal and replacement feedback, which will be incorporated into the Project’s upcoming California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Environmental Impact Report and also into the Project’s final design.

Tree removal information and presentation materials previously presented are available on the Project’s website at SantaBarbaraCA.gov/VicTrace under the “Proposed Tree Removals and Replacements” section. Updated materials will be posted prior to the upcoming Street Tree Advisory Committee in January 2026.
