Bike Share Pilot Program

You will need a mobile smartphone device and the free BCycle app to unlock a BCycle bike. Remember to ride safely and wear your helmet. 

Membership options:

• Walk-Up: $8.70 per every 30-minute ride.
• Monthly: About $32 for unlimited 60-minute rides, with $3 usage fees for each additional 30-minutes.
• Annual: About $244 for unlimited 60-minute rides, with $3 usage fees for each additional 30-minutes.
   

In conjunction with our program operator, BCycle, the City launched the first phase of the three-year Bike Share Pilot Program on January 28, 2021. The Bike Share Pilot Program will include the installation of 500 bicycle docks that will serve a fleet of around 250 e-bikes. The e-bikes can reach a maximum pedal-assist speed of 17-mph and have constantly illuminated front and rear lights.

The bicycle docks can be seen along the State Street Promenade, or elsewhere around town, and new bicycle docks are being continually added. As the program develops, the City will assess whether the Bike Share Pilot Program is a good fit for Santa Barbara and will return to City Council for direction near the end of the three-year period.
