In celebration of Pride Month, the Waterfront Department is proud to announce we are now a registered Safe Space with Safe Space Alliance.

Safe Space Alliance is a nonprofit organization that helps people identify, navigate, and create safe spaces for LGBTQI+ communities worldwide. They maintain an online directory of spaces that welcome and support these communities. Their database includes both physical and mobile spaces, as well as online/digital spaces across all industries.

What is a Safe Space? It’s a space where LGBTQI+ communities can freely express themselves without fear. It is a space that does not tolerate violence, bullying, or hate speech towards LGBTQI+ communities.

The Waterfront Department strives to provide a welcoming, safe, and accessible environment for all individuals who work, visit, and recreate at the waterfront, and the Safe Space designation helps to support that goal.
