Nematodes are small, worm-like metazoans that thrive in aerobic habitats including wastewater treatment processes. Nematodes are naturally abundant in bio-rich soils and, along with playing a starring role at the El Estero Water Resource Center, they have also played a starring role in the cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants.
