Californians are now required to keep as much organic waste out of landfills as possible in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As a City resident, you live in the County of Santa Barbara’s ReSource Center wasteshed (a service area of a particular waste facility), so there’s no change in how you need to manage your waste. The new facility recovers all organic waste from the trash stream then transforms it into compost and clean energy.
