The City of Santa Barbara has released draft updates to the Master Environmental Assessment (MEA) Guidelines for Archaeological Resources and MEA Guidelines for Historic Resources. These documents, published separately, provide critical guidance for applicants, consultants, and stakeholders involved in the development review process. They provide guidance for the identification and evaluation of cultural and heritage resources, ensuring the continued protection of these important resources. Additionally, a separate initiative is underway to develop new MEA Guidelines specifically for Tribal Cultural Resources.

How to Review and Comment:

Visit the MEA Guidelines webpage to review the drafts and submit comments by February 12th, 2025. Feedback can be provided through the following methods:
