Job Apprenticeship Program Graduation

Congratulations to this year’s graduates of our Job Apprenticeship Program!

Each summer, a group of young people train on the job at various City of Santa Barbara departments, learning about different career options as they develop important job skills.

Program staff mentors the apprentices, coaching as they work their temporary jobs throughout the City. The apprentices had summer job placements, working for the Parks and Recreation and Finance Departments and the Santa Barbara Public Library.

This summer’s class of 16 apprentices had successful outcomes—we’re proud to announce that five of them got jobs with City departments, one will be working in the private sector, and the other ten decided to focus on education before starting their careers.

The Job Apprenticeship Program accepts participants based on referrals, and focuses on creating opportunities for low-income youth and early adults.
