Indigenous Murals Blessed and Unveiled at Eastside Neighborhood Park
The City Parks and Recreation Department hosted a blessing ceremony at Eastside Neighborhood Park of Los Voladores de Papantla. A newly created mural, as well as three recently re-envisioned murals by local artist and muralist Miguel Rodriguez, were celebrated.
The collection of four murals pay homage to pre-Columbian people using colorful imagery that is representative of various Indigenous cultures, including Chumash, Aztec, Maya, Yaqui, and Totonac. The project was directed by artist and muralist Miguel Rodriguez and was funded by the Parks and Recreation Department.
