Public Meetings for Tree Removals Proposed for Westside and Lower West Neighborhoods Transportation Management Plan Implementation Project
The Westside and Lower West Neighborhoods Transportation Management Plan Implementation Project (Project) completes major infrastructure gaps to provide safe pedestrian and bicycle routes to schools, parks, and neighborhood services. The Project includes the removal of 33 trees at various locations throughout the project corridor to accommodate the safety enhancements. The trees proposed for removal are currently marked with ribbons and notices. The Project team identified approximately 40 new street tree planting opportunities; the identified locations will be evaluated to ensure the new trees will not result in utility or sightline conflicts.
The proposed tree removals will be reviewed by the Street Tree Advisory Committee (STAC) meeting on Thursday, July 3, 2025. The Project will then go to the Parks and Recreation Commission (PRC) on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, for formal review and approval of the proposed tree removals.
