New Expedited Electric Vehicle Charger Permitting Process
On November 15, 2023, the Community Development Department will deploy an expedited OnDemand permitting process for electric vehicle (EV) charger installation permits.
Applicants are now able to apply online, pay fees, and instantly receive their building permit via email — no staff contact needed. This new OnDemand permit process is available for up to 60-amp wall-mounted EV chargers for single-unit residences and duplexes.
The City of Santa Barbara is committed to streamlining the permitting process while also finding ways to meet its energy and climate goals through thoughtful policies and programs that make it easier for our community to take sustainable action. Streamlining solar, battery storage and EV charger permits through this OnDemand program will support an energy-resilient Santa Barbara.
