16 Potable Water System Offline
The Potable Water source for the WWTP is City Water. The Potable Water System supplies water to the lavatories, sinks, showers, drinking fountains and the Laboratory.
The WWTP’s Industrial Water source is the Potable Water System. Industrial Water is considered non-potable and is used for service sinks, pump water seals, air scrubbers, cooling water, purging, emergency showers, and other process and equipment water. Valves are provided to isolate the two systems so there is no cross contamination.

If the problem area cannot be isolated, the entire Potable Water System must be taken offline.

Procedure
Procedure:
1. Isolate Problem Area
a. Locate the area where the potable water system has been compromised. If possible, isolate that area from the rest of the system.
b. File a Work Order with the Water Department for the repair.
2. Take System Offline
If the problem cannot be isolated, the entire WWTP Potable Water System must be taken offline.
a. Close the Main Isolation Valve {tag no. 1601VLV6181} at the System Feeder Header located at the front of the WWTP, east of the Primary Clarifier Structure.
b. Notify the Water Department at the WWTP is without potable water.
