14 DPS Start Up & Rotation
The Distribution Pump Station is equipped with 2 variable speed pumps {tag nos. 1404PMP/MTR/VFD4100 & 1404PMP/MTR/VFD4200} and 3 constant speed pumps {tag nos. 1404PMP/MTR4300, 1404PMP/MTR4400 & 1404PMP/MTR4500}.
Lead/ lag pump assignment and operation is rotated each month. The local control panel is equipped with two Lead/Lag Switches. One switch rotates operation of the variable speed pumps {tag no. 1404HS5621} and the other switch rotates operation of the constant speed pumps {tag no. 1404HS5621A}. A SCADA HMI workstation is located adjacent to the control panel, so pump operation can be easily monitored.
If pump operation is changed outside of the normal monthly rotation, the operator must ensure that the Water Reclamation Phase II Reservoir (Golf Course) and that distribution flows are not high. Switching variable speed pumps on and off can damage the VFDs. Wait for a relatively low distribution flow before changing pump operation.
The Distribution Pump Station transports filtered and disinfected water from the Reclamation Phase II Reservoir to the Golf Course for irrigation.
- DPS: Distribution Pump Station
If working on or near equipment, watch for rotating parts.
- Ensure that timing of the SOP does not interfer with the current Reclaimed Water demand and distribution.
- Frequent switching on and off of variable speed pumps can damage the VFDs.
The Equipment List/Tag No. List describes the Reclaimed Water System as the "Recycle Water System".

1. Perform monthly rotation of the DPS Pumps
a. Monitor current distribution flows at the SCADA screen. Do not stop or rotate pumps if flows are high.
b. Locate the Lead/Lag Switch {tag no. 1404HS5621} for the variable speed pumps {tag nos. 1404PMP/MTR/VFD4100 & 1404PMP/MTR/VFD4200}.
c. Turn the switch to reverse the current lead/lag configuration of the pump.
d. Locate the Lead/Lag Switch {tag no. 1404HS5621A} for the constant speed {tag nos. 1404PMP/MTR4300, 1404PMP/MTR4400 & 1404PMP/MTR4500}.
e. Turn the switch to place the next pumps (in sequence) into the lead/lag configuration.
2. Perform monthly rotation of the CCC Transfer Pumps
a. Locate the Lead/Lag Switch (located on the panel below HOA switches 1402HS4100 & 1402HS4200) for the Chlorine Contact Tank Transfer Pumps {tag nos. 1402PMP4100 & 1402PMP4200}.
b. Turn the switch to reverse the current lead/lag configuration of the pump.
3. Observe Distribution Pump Station Equipment Operation:
a. Listen for excessive noise or vibration.
b. Check for oil or process fluid leaks.
4. Record Data to Operator’s Log Book: Record Distribution Pump Station Activities to the log book with other entries for the day. Include the following in the entry:
· Operator(s) that performed the Distribution Pump Station SOP.
· Note condition of equipment, piping, valves, etc.
· Note any unusual conditions with flows, levels, odors or other process issues.
· Note any damage, wear, or required maintenance on equipment.
- Update log book.
- Update maintenance records (if applicable).
- Report any maintenance or attention that is required.
Demand for the Reclamation Water System is unaffected by performing this SOP.
If demand for the Golf Course irrigation can not be met, notify Water Distribution of the situation.
