This SOP describes the actions that take place when the spill of any process fluids within the fenceline of the El Estero Wastewater Treatment Plant takes place.

Procedure
Procedure:
  1. Immediately notify other personnel of the spill in the order identified below:
    1. Wastewater Treatment Supervisor
    2. Operations Staff
  2. If you know where the spill is originating from and you can quickly isolate it after notifying others, then do so immediately!
    1. If you are by yourself, first place sand bags around downstream storm drains before attempting to isolate the spill.
    2. Sand bags are located in the Solids Handling Building.
  3. Working with other staff, place sand bags around downstream storm drains

  4. Once sand bags have been put in place, contact Collections to have them use the Vactor to clean up the spill.
  5. Notify Maintenance for any mechanical support.
