Get Mulch

Body

Yard waste collected by MarBorg in the City of Santa Barbara is ground up and turned into mulch. You can use mulch to return fertility to the soil, block sunlight from weeds, and increase your soil’s water retention.

Free Mulch Pick Up

Pick up mulch at the South Coast Recycling and Transfer Station at 4430 Calle Real. The free pile is accessible to residents during the facility's operating hours, Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Simply drive up with a pair of gloves and a garden fork and help yourself to as much mulch as you like. A small fee is charged if you need help with loading mulch. A tarp is recommended for open-bed trucks.

Local residents can also get mulch from MarBorg Industries at 119 N. Quarantina St.

Mulch Delivery Rebate for City of Santa Barbara Water Customers

Because mulch reduces the need for watering by minimizing evaporation, City of Santa Barbara water customers can receive a rebate on their mulch delivery! The mulch must be delivered to a site that is served by City water. The City will partially reimburse up to two deliveries per site per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30), for an 8-10 yard dump truck delivery of unfiltered mulch. Visit the Mulch Delivery Rebate Program web page to learn more.

Bulky Loading of Mulch

Qualified trucks (no pickup trucks or trailers due to their danger of being overloaded with mulch), can be loaded with mulch for a fee at the South Coast Recycling and Transfer Station. For more information, visit LessIsMore.org.
